I know how hard it is to make a story come true, to have the courage to put ideas into words and manage to publish a 300/400-words piece of art. Why is it difficult to review? I highly respect writers. ![]()

Sex stories.” He tapped the front of his forehead. “Sex-adjacent?” Simon tilted his head with the question, clearly trying to figure out what he was talking about. “You might have noticed that, ahh, I have a tendency to, umm, you know, sort of, redirect conversations.” “Yeah, that’s probably something you should know about me,” Aaron admitted, grimacing a little. “What, like the Joker?” Aaron asked, thinking of the gruesome, stretched smile of Batman’s foe. “In a good way, right? Not in a creepy way?” Simon asked with mock fear on his face, and joined Aaron when he began laughing. Which was surprising, considering that he was usually all about the overshare. “I was thinking about your smile,” he offered his date, wanting to give the man the truth but maybe not the whole truth. No problem.” He shrugged, feeling like his arms were no longer under his control. “Was it because I said I was glad you were nervous? As yet another version and variety of the iconic child goth lands, this time as portrayed by Jenna Ortega, from the mind of Tim Burton on the new Netflix drama Wednesday, here’s a retrospective look across mediums at the ever-evolving Wednesday Addams. The only daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams is pale with dark braids, wears a white collar atop an all-black outfit (sometimes accessorized with a handheld skull), and obsesses over the macabre while delighting in torturing (literally, usually) her younger brother, a lovable dummy in contrast with her deep-thinking sensitive soul. Of course, everyone already knows Wednesday Addams-at least, they think they do. “It tells you everything you need to know about her.” ![]() “It’s perfect,” Kevin Miserocchi, an old friend of Addams’s and now director of the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation, tells Vanity Fair of Wednesday’s unconventional moniker. While he struggled with some, like Pugsley (formerly “Pubert,” a crass impossibility for television in 1964), the name Wednesday-a nod to the child full of woe from the nursery rhyme-stuck from the moment of suggestion. ![]() ![]() Only as his imagined family was headed to television screens, did Addams name his characters. His friend Annabella decided to read him a story-"The Little Mermaid"-that got Saint-Exupéry thinking about writing a fairy tale of his own. ![]() In the early 1940s, Saint-Exupéry was stuck in a hospital while he recovered from various injuries that had piled up from his plane crashes, and he was bored out of his mind. ![]() "The Little Mermaid" may have inspired Saint-Exupéry to write The Little Prince.Īlthough the true origin of the story is widely debated, one common theory is that Saint-Exupéry was inspired by this Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. During an attempt to break the record for the fastest trip between Paris and Saigon, Saint-Exupéry crashed his plane in the desert 125 miles outside of Cairo. While today he’s largely remembered for The Little Prince, before World War II Saint-Exupéry was celebrated as an aristocratic aviator and writer who had flown mail routes in Africa and South America and even worked as a test pilot. When he depicted the novel’s narrator crashing in the Sahara at the opening of the book, Saint-Exupéry was writing what he knew. ![]() ![]() Vivian deals with her high stress job by maintaining a healthy sense of humor and relying on her closest friend from law school, Jane, an academic and fellow survivor of childhood abuse. At its core, fasting isn’t any more complicated than simply taking a break from eating, and intermittent fasting can be thought of as occasionally taking a break form eating. ![]() |
